Not Fade Away - kolu photo 1978

Memory's a funny thing,

It lives inside my phone.

Bright clear pictures;

names, dates, faces,

places, all stay saved.

Maps, files and folders

Make it easy to be older.

My salvation, really, this outsourced mine of minds.

This forty year old black and white photo's corner-bent

Blotchy in places, fading, and maybe a stain or two.

But oh! It's all so clear now that the mind's eye is unblocked

Live streaming images, people's laughter in your ears.

Memories are made of this!

Beautiful.
So well expressed.
How times have changed.
Along with everything else
Memories live on in cell phones,
Instead of layered
In soft silks and
Scented tissues.

Raji, that is so eloquent. A poem of a comment.

Loww … indeed photos bring back memories …and as we age the fear that memories will fade or disappear … genuine thought

Yesss, so true, memories have become so accessible, and permanently there to retrieve at will. Eloquently said, gowri, definitely a salvation, and so great that we have loads of happy memories.... But on another note, those old yellowed photos with twisted edges still make my heart sing an equally salvation giving song.
