Smelling of April and May

When the drought is over and we've had some rain we get to feast our eyes on these signs of moisture. It's a surfeit of flowers and new leaves everywhere. No need to plan out beds or plant seeds like the cold weather, because what's already in the garden starts blooming. There are lilies, hibiscus, hydrangeas, magnolias and gardenias. The grass is green again.

Thank you to the person who planted these hydrangeas. They're pink and lilac in one border and blue in another.
Almost like a forest floor under the mahogany trees.

Delicate blooms of bougainvillea.

Heady and intoxicating, the fragrance of the magnolia blooms - alas, I can't capture that!

Gardenia - what I choose to call myself on this blog.

There are many fellow creatures celebrating life out there. I captured the most eye-catching of the lot.

MamMoth!

Today an interesting creature happened to be passing by and stopped for a while outside the jali kamra. It looks like something out of Harry Potter, with the two serpent heads at the wing tips!

Young Aruna, who works in the bungalow, was very happy to pose for the pictures.

Expecting to Fly

This moth was in the verandah for several hours in the morning.

I rushed to get the camera, thinking it might take off before the grand capture. No, it stayed. Some of us stood around and made comments. It didn't budge. Then I got the camera really close to it - and dropped it, typically for me. It fell pretty close to what I imagine were the moth's ears. Did it stir? No.

A good role model for someone who needs to 'chill' more.

Big Boy - Shoot at Sight

My husband decided to shoot this visitor as soon as he saw him in the verandah. A rather Bhayanak (scary) moth.

Top of the Morning to you!

Wonder what this little guy is called. He was sitting so still; he didn't even disturb the dewdrops on the blades of grass. This is my frist time with a camera critter. The subject posed most obligingly. You'll find many shots of camera critters here.
